Chris Adamson

Chris Adamson has been an active contributor to the BI and Information Management community for over twenty-five years. His experience spans a spectrum of involvement, from I.T. practitioner, to technical marketing executive, to internationally recognized consultant.

An expert in star schema design, Mr. Adamson has managed and executed all phases of BI implementation, from requirements analysis to deployment and training. His customers have included Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and data warehousing software vendors.

Mr. Adamson is author several books, including Star Schema: The Complete Reference and co-author of Data Warehouse Design Solutions. His writings have been cited by Ralph Kimball, the leading authority on dimensional modeling, who penned the forwards to some of his books. Mr. Adamson has also created professional education courses on topics ranging from Modern BI Services to Data Modeling in the Age of Big Data.

A dynamic presenter and effective communicator, Mr. Adamson has spoken and published in a number of industry forums. He is a faculty member at The Data Warehousing Institute, and contributes to a variety of publications. He blogs about data warehousing and answers reader questions at Star Schema Central.

Prior to founding Oakton, Mr. Adamson led all strategic marketing, product positioning and program efforts as SVP of Marketing for a privately held database software startup. Prior to that, he achieved national recognition as an expert in data warehousing and business intelligence while a consultant with Sagent Technology and Talus, Inc. Mr. Adamson began his career in the capacity of I.T. practitioner at A&E Networks.
